Description: Website states: Aloha! E komo mai and welcome to the Hali’imaile General Store, Maui’s favorite home town restaurant nestled in the pineapple fields on the lower slopes of Haleakala.

Among the many inquiries we receive, it is our name about which we are most often asked. The Hawaiian word hali’i means ‘a covering’ or ‘blanket’. Maile is a native twining shrub with fragrant, shiny leaves. History tells us that this area was once covered in the sweet-smelling vegetation and the moniker, Hāli‘imaile, became a part of the oral tradition that describes this lovely hamlet today.

Hours: Lunch: Monday – Friday, 11am to 2:30pm Dinner: Nightly, 5:30 – 9:30pm

"The crab appetizer is a must"

Overview:

I love this restaurant. Bev Gannon is known for this crab appetizer and it is fantastic. A definite must. The menu changes but another one that I have had before is the ahi pizza. It is amazing. Layers of ahi and salmon with a wasabi sauce and layered like a pizza that gives it a fantastic crunch. This place is a little out of the way from the usual Hawaii restaurants and it isn't near the ocean but it can be hard to get in to so book ahead.
