While Kanela's most known for it's breakfast menu, which is absolutely fabulous, the new, month-old dinner menu is great! First of all, the atmosphere of Kanela is very quaint, with nice intimate seating and lighting and a small bar in the corner. Our waiter was also extremely attentive and helpful at helping us navigate the new menu. This is the perfect place for first a breakfast, or now a dinner date!
While waiting for the rest of my party, I tried out the Kanela Kiss off their specialty cocktail menu. With Absolut, St. Germain, lemon juice and topped with sparkling wine, it is the perfect, refreshing drink to go along with Kanela's light, sharing style menu. It was sweet, very tart with a wonderful citrusy after taste.
We started off with the homemade Hummus with veggies and pita bread. It was nice and creamy and the warm pita bread was really good. Next we shared the Stuffed Meatballs off a recommendation from our waiter. There was just the right amount of cheese in the meatballs and the tomato sauce was nice and hearty.
For my meal, I had the Scallops which were cooked to perfection and paired with a delicious vegetable medley of mushrooms, pea pods and corn. On the side, we tried the Cauliflower Gratin, which was my favorite part of the entire meal! It was absolutely fantastic and so creamy! Finally, to finish we shared the Chocolate Molten Cake. It was great, not too rich was plenty of hot, liquid chocolate in the middle.
