Overview:

I always struggle picking between sweet and savory at brunch. Waffles gives you the best of both worlds with their Waffles Benedict. Chewy, dense Liege waffles topped with shredded pork, a poached egg, hollandaise and a frisee salad on the side. The waffle has bits of pearl sugar in it so they caramelize on the iron and turn into little nuggets of deliciousness.

Note: Like most brunch places, Waffles does not take reservations, but they will take your name and number and will text you when your table is ready, so you don't have to sit in front of the restaurant for an hour staring longingly at everyone else's food.

Overview:

Seriously, what didn't we try... it's a small plate concept, so don't judge us too harshly!

We started off with oysters (the Deer Creek ones were my favorite) and clam chowder. The chowder was the perfect consistency, not too thick, not too runny, with giant chunks of clam meat and finished off with some zesty hot sauce on top. Fantastic! Shrimp bruschetta = good flavor/texture combo, but not my favorite.

Alaskan halibut with squid ink couscous and roasted fennel was lick-the-plate worthy with perfectly cooked fish and briny (not fishy) black pearls of couscous.

Lobster roll was very tasty: buttery toasted bun with cold, lightly dressed, GIANT hunks of lobster meat.

GT Mac n Cheese was super rich with extremely fresh green peas that added a nice bright note to the dish.

We threw in an order of cauliflower to make us feel better after all the cream and butter -- and that was delicious too!

After all of that, why not end with a bang and order the salted caramel tart, right? We did, and it was awesome. Go, order it. You won't be disappointed.

Overview:

The star of the show here is the ramen. I have tried a lot of items on the menu and I always go back to the Tonkotsu ramen. Egg noodles in a pork broth, slightly silky/creamy from rendered pork fat, slices of braised pork shoulder, pickled greens and fresh bok choy.

Word of warning: the broth is a bit salty, so drink plenty of water so you don't get sausage fingers later on in the day!
